Hiya guys and gooooodddddd morning! Welcome to another Saturday Coffee Morning, with me, Phoenix. We’re going to kick off with a quick and easy recipe to have on its on or savour with your chosen hot cuppa!

How to make a MICROWAVE MUG CAKE!!!

Doesn’t that look yum? 😃

PREP: 5 mins

COOK: 2 mins

DIFFICULTY : Easy

SERVES/MAKES : Serves 1

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 tbsp self-raising flour
  • 4 tbsp caster sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 medium egg
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil or sunflower oil
  • a few drops of vanilla essence or other essence (orange or peppermint work well)
  • 2 tbsp chocolate chips, nuts, or raisins etc (optional)

METHOD:

  1. Add 4 tbsp self-raising flour, 4 tbsp caster sugar and 2 tbsp cocoa powder to the largest mug you have (to stop it overflowing in the microwave) and mix.
  2. Add 1 medium egg and mix in as much as you can, but don’t worry if there’s still dry mix left.
  3. Add the 3 tbsp milk, 3 tbsp vegetable or sunflower oil and a few drops of vanilla essence and mix until smooth, before adding 2 tbsp chocolate chips, nuts, or raisins, if using, and mix again.
  4. Centre your mug in the middle of the microwave oven and cook on High for 1½ -2 mins, or until it has stopped rising and is firm to the touch.

There, a delightful mug cake to savour and enjoy! It is heavenly with a cold scoop of vanilla ice cream, so try that combination out as well! Right, go make your mug cake, get a hot cuppa and meet me back here!

Here’s a little read to enjoy with your treats….

5 tips for writing Poetry:

1. Finding inspiration

Inspiration doesn’t just hit you.

You need to look for it. The more eager you are, the more inspiration you will find. Inspiration is really great for writing poetry about anything! All you have to do is look around. My favourite places for poetry inspiration is sitting out in my garden with a pad and jotting down what I see around me! Inspiration gives you an endless list of things to write about, so this is really important!

2. Read the work of other poets and notice the different styles they use

There are many great poets and reading there work gives you inspiration, ideas and you learn a lot about what style they use that has captured the hearts of their readers.

3. Write about something that means a lot to you

The more you feel about the topic, the better your work will be! If you’re passionate about something, your writing will glow with that passion. And that is what captures hearts.

4. Write about your feelings

Whether you are sad, moody, grieving, over the moon with joy or even in love, jotting down your feelings is a great exercise for your brain to describe it in words. It’s also better for you, and your reader may be able to relate to what you are feeling.

5. Don’t push yourself too hard

There are times where we get stuck in our work. We can’t find the right word or we don’t know what line we should write and we just want to rip it all up and kick down the desk. Yeah. We’ve all experienced that. This is just our brain telling us that we need a break. Don’t push yourself. Don’t write for too long and give your body some exercise. Take breaks. Even if it’s five minutes. Get fresh air or have a snack or search up a humorous video and laugh! Don’t give up on your work. That’s the way to success!

Hope you all enjoyed that, nextttt is a book review!

In for a penny by Kelsey Browning

Review:

When Lillian Summer Fairview’s husband up and dies on her, it leaves the last living member of the most prestigious family in the small town of Summer Shoals, Georgia, in a hot money mess. Desperate to keep up the family name and give the man a decent burial, penniless Lil cooks up a shady deal that lands her smack-dab in the slammer.

Burdened by her shameful secret and a crumbling family estate, Lil entrusts Summer Haven’s care to her best friend, Maggie, who recruits two more over-fifty ladies to help. But when Maggie discovers that Lil’s restitution is ten times the amount she “borrowed” from the federal government, she’s convinced Lil has taken the fall for someone else’s crime.

Will these gals be able to get some vigilante justice for Lil, or will the swindler get away with hoodwinking a sweet little old lady?

I found this book sugared with humor and each page was captivating and magical. It is an amazing book, action packed with plenty of mystery, twists and adventure and a definite must buy.

Next up is a poem I have written…

Catch me!

I have a home but I’m homeless

I know my way around but I’m lost

Confusion is driving me astray

To the point where many stumbled upon before

Will I be at ease

Sweet, sweet ease

Or will I fall?

I have a religion but confusion envelopes me whole

Lurking in the darkness of every shadow in the world

Will I find my place or will I fall?

I’m intelligent but helpless

I’m now falling through the depths of despair

I don’t know what to think

Or what to believe

Everyone’s pulling me to their own beliefs

So at night I pray

To whatever God is up there

Catch me if I fall

Don’t leave me hanging

Like an apple on a tree

I long for a place in this world

But i still can’t see

Days go by

Weeping at night

Begging to be guided by the Lord

Then the all Merciful

Grants me my sight

Now I see why we’re here on this world

This world is only temporary

We’re only travellers, wanderers

Admiring the beauty of the creation of the creator

At first everyone has doubts

At first everyone can’t see

If they seek what they find

At ease is their new beliefs

So God guide me

Show me

Help me

And catch me

When I fall….
