Hi there! β¨

Today’s post is on how to stay motivated for writing. I know that a lot of people are trying to stay motivated when they’re working on a book, essay, speech and so on. You may be working on a book, essay or speech and if so then you need this post!
1. DON’T EDIT AS YOU WRITE! Editing your work as you write takes wayyy to much time, and every second you’re crossing out another word – and that’s how we scrunch up the paper, throw it and give up on that project. I’m sure you want to stay put, so make sure you write first, then edit.
2. WRITE EVERY DAY! Practice makes perfect! Even if it’s a paragraph or less than a paragraph, just try to write a little every day. Create small writing goals that you can achieve every day and commit yourself to it.
3. DON’T GET DISTRACTED! In your writing time, when you’re trying to reach your goal, remove any distractions, like your phone. Write in a peaceful and quiet area. You definitely do not want your great ideas to run away!
4. PARICIPATE IN CHALLENGES AND TRY WRITING PROMPTS! Try creative writing prompts on Penable or any other blog you find. This will challenge your skills, broaden them and motivate you to write more often.
5.TAKE BREAKS! Writing is good, very good, but it’s absolutely okay to take breaks from your work! When you’ve got no ideas or you don’t know what to write about next, don’t stress and force your brain to think. Instead, take a break, a walk in the park, chat to a friend, cook something or watch a film! Then once you’re relaxed and ready, you can resume your work!
I hope you enjoyed this post, and hopefully, you’re feeling motivated and ready to pick up that pen and write down all your amazing stories and ideas!

I agree with the need for a break! It feels so nice to have someone else say it π so that I don’t feel like am coming up short when I take the breaks I so desperately need

I so agree to participate in challenges or do writing prompts if you feel unmotivated. One of my favorite poems that I have ever written was inspired by your challenge about galaxies, and that happened during a week when I felt like I had nothing to write about!

Really, really, really, really, really, really, REALLY great tips. I struggle to focus really often. And I’m working on trying not to edit as I write. This is the post I really needed right now. Thanks so much Phoenix. β€
