Hi everyone, I hope you’re doing good and I wanted to share a fantastic book that I really recommend to you all.
About the book:
Twelve-year-old Omar and his brothers and sisters were born and raised in the beautiful and bustling city of Bosra, Syria. Omar doesn’t care about politics – all he wants is to grow up to become a successful businessman who will take the world by storm. But when his clever older brother, Musa, gets mixed up with some young political activists, everything changes . . .
Before long, bombs are falling, people are dying, and Omar and his family have no choice but to flee their home with only what they can carry. Yet no matter how far they run, the shadow of war follows them – until they have no other choice than to attempt the dangerous journey to escape their homeland altogether. But where do you go when you can’t go home?
This is the best book that I’ve read so far! Elizabeth Laird (the author) has a truly captivating way of storytelling.
Welcome to Nowhere is a powerful, exciting and beautiful tale about the life of one family and how they get through their struggles and find light. It’s a really moving, heartbreaking book based on reality and gets you thinking.
It also gives you insight into the troubles of the Syrian war through the eyes of a fourteen year old boy. This is a definite read for all ages, and there’s never a boring page (I read the whole book in two sittings)!
Please get this much-needed book here let me know how you find it!
Stay safe and happy reading,
