Welcome to the world book day special. I hope everyone is having a brilliant day!

If you’re looking for some awesome books to read or purchase today, here are some great books that are trending in 2021.

  1. All the lonely people by Mike Gayle

About All the lonely people:

In phone calls to his daughter in Australia, widower Hubert Bird paints a picture of the perfect retirement, packed with fun and friendship.

But Hubert Bird is lying.

Something has made him turn his back on people, and he hardly sees a soul.

So when his daughter announces she’s coming to visit, Hubert faces a race against time: to make his real life resemble his fake life before he’s found out.

2. The guest list by Lucy Foley

About the guest list:

On an island off the windswept Irish coast, guests gather for the wedding of the year – the marriage of Jules Keegan and Will Slater.
Old friends.
Past grudges.
Happy families.
Hidden jealousies.
Thirteen guests.
One body.
The wedding cake has barely been cut when one of the guests is found dead. And as a storm unleashes its fury on the island, everyone is trapped.

All have a secret. All have a motive.
One guest won’t leave this wedding alive . . .

3. The family upstairs by Lisa Jewell

About the family upstairs:

In a large house in London’s fashionable Chelsea, a baby is awake in her cot. Well-fed and cared for, she is happily waiting for someone to pick her up.

In the kitchen lie three decomposing corpses. Close to them is a hastily scrawled note.

They’ve been dead for several days.

Who has been looking after the baby?

And where did they go?

Two entangled families.
A house with the darkest of secrets.

4. A secret of birds and bones by Kiran Millwood Hargrave

About a Secret of Birds and Bones:

In an Italian city ravaged by plague, Sofia’s mother carves beautiful mementoes from the bones of loved ones. But one day, she doesn’t return home.

Did her work lead her into danger? Sofia and her little brother Ermin are sent to the convent orphanage but soon escape, led by an enigmatic new friend and their pet crow, Corvith.

Together they cross the city underground, following clues in bones up to the towers of Siena, where – circled by magpies – the children find the terrible truth …

  1. I had no idea there was something called World Book Day. Well, thanks for letting me know 😅 Yesss, book recommendations!! I’ve heard so much about The Family Upstairs and now I know I have to read it.

    The answers-
    1) Umera Ahmed (she’s a Pakistani author), Sarah Dessan, Rick Riordan, Michael Grant and… uhh… It’s so hard to choose. What about youuuu?
    2) It was ‘Every Last Word’ but then ‘Jane Anonymous’ replaced it and then I read this Urdu book ‘Aangan’ and I don’t want to die in the process of choosing one. Sorry 😂
    3) All my favorite characters go through something which I don’t want to go through but if I had to choose one… I’d say Khayyam Maquet from ‘Mad, Bad and Dangerous to know’ by Samira Ahmed.
    4) Nope, because I had to no idea there was such a thing ;-;

Yayy, I’ll keep my eyes peeled for the video and the contest! Happy World Book Day!!
